How am I meant to feel

when my favourite musicians wear feathered headdresses (Melora Creager, Emilie Autumn) and do other problematic rubbish like use the term ‘homo’ as a synonym for stupid (Voltaire), make fun of women on their period (Voltaire), say it’s ‘normal for a man [to cheat]’ (Voltaire), tell women to check their “lips at the door” and “shake [their] hips like battleships” (Jack White), and rape a Katy Perry lookalike on stage to teach her a lesson about trivialising bisexuality (Amanda Palmer)? This last example completely changed my already skeptical opinion about Amanda Palmer and I actually cannot stand her now…

It makes me uncomfortable, and I get horribly offended, but I still love them so much and I don’t want to boycott them because that’s crazy! They do so much good as well as bad… Does this make me a bad person? Does anyone else have this problem? What am I meant to do?

“Less than 800 people could be bothered watching Louise Mensch and Laurie Penny argue about the role of the state and the speed of the government’s cuts (important issues though they are), but all around the world, women and men were watching ‘Jodie Marsh Bullied: My Secret Life’, and learning something terrifying: that as children, girls like Zoe are taught never to be clever, and then, later in life, women are blamed and mocked for acting dumb. Women like Jodie Marsh are taught they are ugly and deserve abuse for it, and then, later in life, get taught that they deserve abuse for being too into their looks or for having plastic surgery. It goes on and on. Girls get taught to be permanently sexually available in order to be respected or loved – then, later in life, we get told we don’t deserve respect or love because we are sluts and whores.”

Brilliant article. Simply brilliant. The best I have read on the subject in ages.

The EA show was fucking amazing!! The first pic is me outside with my vip laminate. The second is me with EA!!! Kind of a crap pic but I’m not complaining :)

And the stuff from the show. I got my book signed and drawn in, Rob got the lithograph signed. The vip laminate is gorgeous but too shiny for a good pic. Love that it says inmate on it :)

Someone I follow has been to new the F.L.A.G. show! Someone I follow has met EA! You have no idea how excited I am so early in the morning at seeing this beautiful montage blow up my dash. This is officially happening!!!

I’m so pleased you had such a great time, Persephone! What song was your favourite? Any show highlights? Was EA lovely to you?

I have a new blog!

OK, don’t get too excited. It’s a blog designed to document my journey in attempting to stop biting my nails.

Please follow me and send me abuse/encouragement. I need all the support I can get.

Photos from Emilie Autumn’s opening night of the F.L.A.G. tour have finally surfaced!

She looks awesome and kickass and I want to take over the world with her.

I know I’m unemployed and all,

but I’m feeling pretty happy and quite positive about everything. It’s a nice feeling, if unrealistic given the current state of the economy and my lack of funds. I really wasn’t happy in my last job though, and even though things backfired a bit in my decision to leave, I think it was the right decision to make. I’ve had quite a few responses to my CV considering I’ve only been job-hunting again for two weeks, attended a few interviews, got the Emilie Autumn concert to look forward to in April (and hopefully a new album soon as well) and I’ve started writing again, which I think was the main reason for my previous despondency — if I’m not writing, I don’t feel happy. Weird, huh?

It seems that money can’t buy you happiness after all (but it helps).

An… interesting conversation I had with my friend Emma earlier today:

Emma: How amazing would it be to see them live! Is it odd that I really want to touch his beard?

Me: Personally, I want to touch more than just his beard.

Emma: That just makes you human.
